Voldemort then left, leaving Kreacher to drink from the lake (as any water conjured evaporated) and die at the hands of the Inferi. Loyalty and bravery were considered immensely positive character traits through the stories. Harry’s loyalty to his friends, and bravery in the face of danger, was something that defined him both as a Gryffindor and also as the hero of the books. According to the Oxford English Dictionary, a "dobby" is an old English word for a benevolent elf that would perform household tasks secretly in the night, like the elves in tales of the elves and the shoemaker. However, just as those elves disappeared when the shoemaker made them shoes, so the dobbies were said to disappear when offered clothing. A dobby is also a small mechanical part in a loom that enables the weaver to create small geometric patterns.
Albus Dumbledore

Shortly before Christmas of 1995, Sirius accidentally gave Kreacher permission to leave the house, whereupon Kreacher temporarily left Grimmauld Place and went to the nearest Black family connection whom he still respected, Sirius’ cousin Narcissa Malfoy. Kreacher then proceeded to betray the Order as much as he was able, and eventually tricked Harry into thinking that Sirius was at the Department of Mysteries, which led to Sirius’ death (OP22, OP24,OP32, OP37). Kreacher was an aged House-Elf whose family served the Black family for generations. He was devoted to Sirius Black’s mother, who died in 1985 but whose portrait still shrieks orders from the wall of the front hall of the Black family home, number twelve, Grimmauld Place.
Known Hogwarts house-elves
Their cruelty, snobbery, bigotry and insecurity made them a pretty foul family. Our hearts broke every time we witnessed or heard about their brutality towards such a lovely and wonderful character. So, the moment that Dobby realised he was free of his toxic owners was definitely one of our favourite moments.
When Dobby fully embraced his new style
The last time Lucius saw Dobby was in 1998, when Dobby came to Malfoy Manor to rescue Harry Potter and his friends. Dobby was eventually killed by Bellatrix Lestrange.[2] It is unknown how the Malfoys reacted when they learned of it. Not only that, he was unintentionally insensitive to the wishes and feelings of Harry, who loved Hogwarts and his friends, and Dobby was essentially trying to cut Harry off from the things in his life that gave him real joy and purpose.

The battery-operated ornament plays a version of “Deck the Halls” as sung by Kevin. This ornament is a miniature, making it tinier than the other “Minion” ornament in this year’s collection. It features Stuart trying to figure out what’s inside of a present while wearing a tiny elf hat. Hallmark is releasing a bunch of ornaments featuring properties that can be found in the Universal Studios parks, including “Harry Potter,” Nintendo, “Jurassic Park,” and more. The pair were never going to be best friends, but by the end of the Battle of Hogwarts, Harry wondered if Kreacher would make him a sandwich.

A house-elf was behind the bar when Newt Scamander, Tina Goldstein and Jacob Kowalski entered the nightclub. My uncle was a house-elf.” Queenie Goldstein approaches him and orders “six shots of gigglewater and a lobe blaster” which he shuffles off to prepare. Another brought Gnarlak a drink when he sat at a table with Newt Scamander and a third brought Gnarlak a document to sign, then scurried off with it. Another house-elf carried a crate of bottles and shouted the warning “MACUSA are coming!

She wore the new clothes (a dress for her size) that Barty gave her, though took little care for them as they suffered damage from her negligence. Dobby, a friend of Harry Potter and former servant of the Malfoy family, was able to get her a job at Hogwarts working in the kitchens, though unlike Dobby himself, she was still attached to her former masters and had no interest in doing any work. She did not do much work, but took to sitting on a stool by the fireplace getting drunk. The other House-Elves were embarrassed by her self-pity, though Dobby attempted to take care of and looked out for her. Occasionally, Dobby would put Winky in a bed he had found inside the Room of Requirement when she was extremely drunk. In the same year, Hermione Granger set up the organisation S.P.E.W., she started coming to the kitchens in order to persuade them to be set free.
However, Kreacher later started to respect Harry and be less prejudiced in general. It is possible that, since Kreacher had contact with the Hogwarts kitchen house-elves, he had contact with Dobby, too, and their common ground caused a release of the bad blood, but it is unknown. Dobby might not have learned about Kreacher's change before he was killed in 1998. Kreacher looked like Dobby in appearance, but was angry and antagonistic in character. Dobby suffered a period of unemployment, during which he was often ostracised for having no "proper shame" in regards to being out of work.
Bartemius Crouch Snr
This led wizards such as Albus Dumbledore and Hermione Granger to personally work to improve the lives of these creatures. Winky took care of her master after his escape from Azkaban, the wizard prison in secret. Winky escorted him to the Top Box at the 1994 Quidditch World Cup, pretending to be saving a seat for Barty Crouch Snr, while Barty Crouch Jnr, watched the match from under an Invisibility Cloak. Unfortunately, Barty Crouch Jnr only cared about his master, and took advantage of her fear of heights to steal a wand in a moment of clarity from his father's Imperius Curse.
She thought that getting paid was a lowly idea, even when Dobby helped her secure a new job at Hogwarts. She eventually fell into a state of depression, seeking solace in too much Butterbeer, poor thing. It is implied that with a wand and the proper knowledge, house-elves might be able to do other magic, as Winky was accused of using the Morsmordre spell to conjure the Dark Mark in the sky, though it was in fact cast by Bartemius Crouch Jnr. Bartemius Crouch Snr suggested that Amos Diggory was implying that "I routinely teach my servants to conjure the Dark Mark", suggesting that it would have been possible for Winky to use the spell if she had the knowledge. Their loyalty also prevented them from using magic against their masters until they were free. This amounted to their reputation as push overs and leading lives of abuse.
As a free house-elf, Dobby was unable to find work for a year or so, eventually joining the kitchen staff at Hogwarts; it seems that most wizards don't want house-elves that they have to pay for, even if it is only a Galleon per month. A house-elf who was utterly devoted to Harry Potter, Dobby put himself at great risk (and in serious physical pain) when he went out of his way to protect the young wizard from what Dobby knew would be significant danger. His loyalty and bravery were rewarded eventually, as he was freed from his cruel wizarding family with a gratefully received dirty sock. Harry and Dobby became firm friends after that and more socks would come into Dobby's life.
